. . . . .why I know I’m not qualified to win the Best Mother Of The Year award(if there’s such thing). When I had my first child,I was so obsessed how to be the best mom,I bought all the available books and magazines so I can read and learn how to be the “perfect mom” I can be hoping to raised a perfect son, If there’s a university for motherhood,I’ll be the first in line to register, but before I knew it,things has change dramatically and the award giving body already disqualified me for the following reasons which of course the “family experts” says it’s not right.
![]()
- I let my kids eat chocolate chips cookies before dinner.
- Both of my boys was weaned from the bottle when they turned 3 yrs old.
- We co-sleep, I don’t know but for some reason the boys feel safe to sleep beside mommy & daddy they didn’t even know that it’s me who feel safer with them.
- My 3 yrs old Kendrick sometimes (most of the times) go to bed late, like 12 mn maybe.
- I let them watch tv for hours.
- I let them eat dinner/supper in the living room while watching tv.
- They go to bed sometimes without taking a bath.
- I bought them bubble gum
- I let them eat breakfast food for dinner/supper (this is quite confusing to me,when and where can i read the rules that says you can’t eat breakfast food for for different time of the day? )
- They stop taking a nap when they turned 3 yrs old.
- I never trained them to potty, they learned it on their own,no,actually they just decided to do it.(my 7 years old was when he was only 4,but my 3 yrs old learned it when he was only two).
- They drink more than a can of softdrinks a day.
- I introduced them to computer games.
Oh my goodness!!!I’m the worst mother ever,Ain’t that creepy? I wonder if they have an award for that?

You certainly take an individual approach to motherhood! If you have a happy family that’s half the battle won already.

I have done a few of those myself!
happy tt!

What’s wrong with breakfast food for dinner?

I’m with you on the Cheerios for dinner, letting them watch TV and gum and bath… pretty much everything!

willa, i understand you. Now that I have my own boy who just turned 1 this month, I am hoping to be a much better mom, too. I know I won’t and can’t be perfect but I’ll try my best, too.
Nicholas is right. If you guys are happy, then that’s good rather than living the strict life for your boys where everything is neat and in order but they aren’t happy at all, di ba?

I guess I’ll have to join the ranks of the less than perfect mothers. I’ve done a few of these myself.

There certainly is a university of parenthood. It’s called life.

We eat and watch TV at the same time–and we eat cookies when we please. Nobody has died from this yet, so we think we’ll be ok! Perfect and real are not always the same!

*GASP* I don’t know how they’ll ever grow up normal!!! I think your kids will look back one day and think about how much fun they had. Who knows how I grew up turning out (somewhat)normal when I spent my childhood in the 70s!

Fickleminded – I love cereal for dinner! I often have a big bowl of Corn Flakes with a banana for my supper instead of a heavy meal of meat and potatoes. I love bacon and eggs with hashed browns for dinner too. I guess the “food police” will just have to arrest me!
I think sometimes we are all a little too obsessed with “clean”. Bathing too often dries out the body’s natural oils – it’s no wonder we spend so much on moisturizers! A little dirt helps build a child’s immune system!
BTW, I’m keeping an eye on you – I know you’re going to grab all the Tootsie Rolls out of your boys Halloween sacks! You alluded to that fact in your comment on my blog!
Happy TT and Happy Halloween!

don’t worry, willa… i’m a hands-on dad myself and we exactly have the same sense of style, so to speak! hahaha!
only the book authors think there’re such things as super mom or ‘how to’ parenting out there that every parent should do. i think there is really none. it all boils down to being a more than a friend to your kids. that’s it. the more we get deeper to following the dreaded blacks & whites of the ‘good parenting’ books and ‘professional advises’ from the ‘parent authorities’, the more we get in deep s#!t. parenting, after all, is leaving & living a well-balanced relationship with your children. every parent knows what’s best for their children. it is their instincts that make them better parents.
just my 2 cents….

I think we all have those lists when it comes to our kids, because let’s face it, there is no right way to raise kids. We all just do the best we can. Great list!
Thanks for commenting on my first TT!

The bottom line is, they’re YOUR kids!
I think as mothers we all have those little areas where we don’t quite fit the Best Mommy profile.
Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog!
